Flash Builder 4 Burrito suddenly won't open

$

Hi, I got Flash Builder Buritto at Adobe Max  and havn't touched it in a while.  I wanted to play with it a bit today, and when I tried to open it, the Eclipse Helios logo popped up, instead of Flash Builder 4 Burrito, and then suddenly closed again without any notification or warning.  I have tried this multiple times and it just won't open.

I currently have Flash Builder 4 Premium and Flex builder 3 professional installed on my computer in 2 different places from the burrito instilation.

Thanks.

Setting background image on Flash Builder 4.5 application

Hi,

I would like to set a background image on my Flash Builder 4.5 application. Does anyone know how to do this? Haven't seen an example that does this. Flex 3 made this very easy to do, but not 4.5

Thanks

USB Debugging Android OS 4.2.x or Above Failing

$

Hey all,

I starting to get more and more devices that both don't come with a USB driver (relying on MTP) and fail to authorize themselves with Windows. Not all 4.2 devices do this however, I'm noticing Samsung is pretty special in this way.

I have the latest Android SDK, the default google USB driver as well. 'adb devices' continuously shows devices as 'unauthorized'. I've read people do simple things like unplug/replug, uncheck/recheck USB debugging, restart the device and all possible combinations of those things in any order. My older devices dutifully ask me upon connection or USB Debugging enablement if the PC I connected it to is allowed and once I click OK the device is authorized (like my 4.1.2 Samsung Galaxy S3). This screen NEVER comes up on newer devices, never offering a way to authorize the device.

Android devices that work

  • Samsung Galaxy S3 (4.1.2)
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" (4.1.2)
  • ASUS Transformer 10.1" (4.0.3)
  • ASUS Transformer Infinity 10" (4.2.1)
  • Lenovo IdeaTab 7" (4.0)
  • ASUS MeMO SmartPad 10.1" (4.1)
  • Sony Xperia Tablet Z 10" (4.2.2)

Devices that refuse to authorize:

  • Samsung Galaxy S4 (4.3)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (4.3)
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0" (4.2.2)

The obvious trend here is, Samsung and anything over 4.2 doesn't seem to work (allow authorization). I can find nothing but Kies software with a "reinstall USB driver" option which I've installed and tried but these devices merely are visible in windows, allow file transfers with no issues, show up in 'adb devices' as 'unauthorized' and in Flash Builder 4.7 they show up as their serial numbers, 'online' and AIR is not installed, with no OS version.

Has anyone had any luck with a late Samsung device and USB debugging, or getting the devices to authorize with the OS? As much as I've narrowed it (which doesn't help) is OS 4.2 and up now ask for a RSA fingerprint for authorization from Windows whereas 4.1 and below do not. Somehow only the older Galaxy Tab and Sony are getting this. I guess Samsung is just having an issue (with Win7 Pro 64bit).

Any native developers know how to force a device to authorize?

Thanks!

This is a very annoying problem while generating release build files. Here is the steps I did while buiding:

1. Select Project > Export Release Build

2. Select Signed Native Installer

3. Import certificate

4. Click Next.

I always got the following error:

build_error.png

I have the following setup:

OS: Windows 8.1

System type: 64-bit

Flash Builder Version: 4.6 Premium

Installed FB: FlashBuilder_4_6_LS10.exe

Please help. This is giving me a lot of headaches for a couple of days now.

I am unable to start Flash Builder. Right at the splash screen I get an error saying to look in the log file, but I don't see where the problem is in the log file. Could anyone help me out. I'll post the log error file.

Flash Builder 4.6 Not Recognizing Valid CS 5.5 Premium Serial Number

I have downloaded and attempted to install Flash Builder 4.6 over the install of FB 4.5 that came with Web Premium 5.5

The serial number from my original install is not recognized as a valid serial number for FB 4.6

I am hesitant to uninstall FB 4.5 first and attempt the install of 4.6 since I am running Windows 7 64 bit and others in this forum are saying they have had install issues on that platform.

Come on Adobe !  You are better than this !

Anyone have a solution?

Unable to see Flex Add-in in the QTP Start Up window

I have installed Trial version of QTP 11.0 in my machine.

I have also installed Flex Builder v4.6 and Adobe Flex v4.6 plug in for QTP.

But in the QTP Add ins selection window, Flex add in is not listed.

I have just installed the Flex Builder v4.6, have not done any additional installations

Also I am a Tester hence I have to just automate a web application built on Flex.

Have I mised out anything because of which Flex add in is not reflecting in the QTP Add ins window.

Please advise...

dx tool failed:

I'm really frustrated by this error. I was using flash builder 4.5 with no issues; I was able to get my first flash project on my android device. I updated my flash builder to 4.6 - and as a part of this process was told to uninstall the previous (Flash Builder 4.5) version. I installed, imported my old project - made a few reference changes and was able to get the desktop simulator to work with Flash Builder 4.6.

Now, I want my new project to run on my android and test with a gps sensor. I export release build - go through the steps I went through before and instead of it working; I get an error that my dx tool failed. No mention of what failed within the dx tool, just that it failed and I can't be helped. I rebooted my computer, same issue. I created a new project with nothing but just the stock project - still nothing worked. I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, created a new project and I'm still not working. How can I fix this and get back up and running?

I attached a screenshot of my error.dxtool.JPG

Thanks!

Flash Builder 4.6 won't launch (Mac OS X)

Hi.  I'm running Mac OS X Lion.

FB 4.6 won't launch.  I read a post to rename the workspace directory but I don't know where this is located on my MacBook Pro.  Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?  If I rename the workspace directory hopefully it will launch, once I'm able to locate that folder.

Flash Builder 4.7 crashes on start up constantly. Mac OSX 10.9

I am having many issues using Flash Builder at the moment. I am using Flash Builder 4.7 on Mac OSX 10.9 (Mavericks). My Java version is Version 7 update 51. The JRE is 1.7

The first problem is that the program has begun to crash on start up. The workspace opens for a second or two and then crashes with no error or log. This is now happening constantly.

On the occasions when it does start up within around 5 minutes I receive an 'Unexpected character. " is not allowed here'. There are no characters at all at the point the error suggests.

The Problems tab says that the unexpected character is on the last line, there is only a } and then nothing following. It doesn't matter what code I am working on, this error happens on all of them. It also gives multiple sets of these errors. On one occasion there were 169 errors relating to the unexpected character.

With these errors, Flash Builder is currently unusable. I would appreciate any assistance that can be given.

I noticed on the system requirements that OSX Mavericks is not listed, does anyone know if there will be an update to Flash Builder soon?

Regards

Richard

OS: WIndows 7 x64

Hardware: ATI Radion 65xxx series HD, 12GB DDR3, Galaxy Note 10.1 & Galaxy S4

Android 4.1.2 is on the Tablet and 4.2.2 is on the mobile.

Software: Adobe CC (Full) - FlashBuilder 4.7 - AIR for android on both devices 4.x installed

Flashbuilder modification 1: APACHE FLEX Latest downloaded and installed into SDK directory

Flashbuilder modification 2: AIR 4.0 SDK downloaded and installed into eclipse plugins flash compiler directory

Dev test 1: (success)

Built test application to test some Away3D 4.x programming and interaction on AIR.

Result: Flash Player opened SWF and all appeard fine.

Dev test 2: (success)

Created new project - Flash Mobile - merged dev test 1 code into project and compiled on Galaxy S4

Result: FlashBuilder recognised device, installed apk and ran it just fine (AIR 4.x is already installed on device)

Dev test 2b: (failure)

Still using project dev test 2, I unplugged the Galaxy S4 and pluggined in the Galaxy Note 10.1. Pressed debug.

Result: Flashbuilder didn't get any further than displaying the message "Launching: Determining the device on which to install the application..."

Dev test 2c: (failure)

Closed FlashBuilder, unplugged device, CTRL + ALT + DEL then end tasked all ADB processes. Re-opened FlashBuilder, plugged Tablet back in and pressed debug again.

Result: Sat on "Launching: Installing application on device" heard windows noise for unplugged usb device sound?!!??  Waited.. and waited and eventually got the message "Launching 'Away3DIsometricBlockBuilder' has encountered a problem. Error occurred while installing the application: rm failed for /data/local/tmp/Away3DIsometricBlockBuilder.apk, No such file or directory

Dev test 2d: (success)

Unplugged device, end tasked all ADB.exe instances and plugged in galaxy s4 and pressed debug.
Result: Success!

Dev test 2e: (failure)
Unplugged all devices, end tasked all ADB.exe instances and shut down flashbuilder. Opened a command prompt window and adb version = 1.0.31. Downloaded Goolge Android SDK x64 and removed existing android installation folder I had already and extracted files there. Opened SDK Manager and installed the latest Android 4.4 SDK  and some other tools etc. Now I went looking for where adb exists. Found the ones relevant to FlashBuilder 4.7 and checked which version they were. SDK used version was 1.0.31 and the AIR eclipse plugins ADB version was also 1.0.31. Checked fresh installed adb version from Google Android SDK and it was also v 1.0.31. Tried a manual install on the device of the apk. Re-opened FlashBuilder re-connected device (tablet) and pressed debug.
Result: Got to Launching 57%, windows made usb disconnection sound and it got no further and popped up the error window which was detailed in "Dev test 2c" above. Device shows connected windows explorer no longer shows device.

Dev test 2f: (failure)

Unplugged device, end tasked all adb.exe instances. Plugged device back in.
Check 1: Windows shows android device plugged in GT-N80810
Check 2: Opened admin rights dos window and typed in adp devices - found 1 at some address
Check 3: adb version = 1.0.31

Check 4: apk file exists

Execute manual install: adp install -r package_name.apk

Result:

-- in dos window --

protocol failure

- waiting for device -

rm failed for /data/local/tmp/apkname.apk, No such file or directory

Dev test 3: (failure)

Created a new flashbuilder 4.7 ActionScript Mobile AIR Project

Name: TabletTest01

Permissions: Internet, Write external storage, wake lock, access network

Auto reorient: yes

Full screen: yes

Added code: trace("hello world");

Pressed debug

Set launch method: on device

Build target = device

Click apply then debug

Result: Same as error shows in 2c

Dev test 3b: (success)

Rebooted pc, rebooted device plugged back in after flashbuilder was running and pressed debug.

Result: sucess traced out "hello world" to console!

Dev test 3c: (failure)

Added code: trace("YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSS!");

Pressed debug.

Result: FAILURE! Same as error shows in 2c

Adobe or anyone know how to fix this issue? or even what is going on?!

I'm tempted to flash the Galaxy Note with Android 4.2.2 or 4.4 google stock rom, to see if it fixes any problems...
However it wouldn't be a true Galaxy Note 10.1 test device anymore, which was the point in buying the thing.

The only things which stand out in all this to me are:

1. The tablet disconnects mid way through the debug publish process, but sometimes the galaxy s4 does also but it doesn't stop it from working?! Timing issue with compiler and data transfer timings? Missing apk file in data temp directory?

2. Android 4.1.2 is on the Tablet and 4.2.2 is on the mobile, could it be an issue with the AIR SDK not correctly handling 4.1.2 where as it is fine with 4.2.2?

Maybe I should have gone the way of the virtual machine... :\

My next tests will be to root the device (odin) and see if I can copy over APK files for installation via the file browser on the device as at the moment APK file transfer is blocked (I don't have the apk copying issue on a non-rooted galaxy s4 however).

Anyone got anything?

D

Adobe Flash Builder 4.7 Plug-in Utility Not Installing on Eclipse

I am trying to install Flash Builder 4.7 Plugin into Eclipse. I have downloaded Flash Builder Premium via Adobe's Creative Cloud. I have also installed Eclipse Indigo. I am running this all on Mac OSX.

According to a tutorial I found I needed to go into the Utilities folder found in the Flash Builder install and run the Adobe Flash Builder 4.7 Plug-in Utility. It seemed to run fine. Afterwards you should be able to see "Flash Builder" in the help menu of Eclipse. However it is not there. You should also be able to set Flash Builder preferences under Window --> Preferences. Flash Builder is also not visible there.

According the the tutorial there should also be this file "fb-4_7-plugin-encoded.link" created in the "dropins" folder of Eclipse. This file is created. However it is blank.

I looked into the installation log and there was only one concerning message.

Move File: Destination: /Applications/eclipse/dropins/fb-4_7-plugin-encoded.link

Status: WARNING

Additional Notes: WARNING - There was a problem moving /Applications/eclipse/dropins/fb-4_7-plugin-encoded.link

I am unsure what this means the documentation seems to be pretty sparse. However, it seems to be the only problem in the entire installation process. Any ideas or suggestions on what could be causing this error would be great.

Flash Builder 4.6 not opening in PC

HI there. I already read a lot of post talking about that problem happen on mac. My problem is that I am experience this on PC.

My flash builder have come with the adobe master collection, and I deleted the folder that was the flashbuilder worskpace and nothing, the same error.

When I try to open, it opens the startup screen and then close it with no error messages. Nothing more happens.

What I need to do?

FlashBuilder won't start

Using windows 7.

Starting via double clicking the executable results in the loading screen and then nothing.

SOMETIMES, when started via the command-line, a popup appears after the initial splash screen saying that "the workspace is currently in use", which suggests that FlashBuilder is still running - which it isn't.

When started from the commandline using the FlashBuilderC.exe I get:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.7 (64 Bit)>flashbuilderc.exe

Exception in thread "Thread-5" org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Device is disposed

Job found still running after platform shutdown.  Jobs should be canceled by the plugin that scheduled them during shutdown: org.eclipse.ui.internal.ide.IDEWorkbenchActivityHelper$4

Any Ideas?

Also, why is Abode support so bad?  I don't see many Adobe support comments on the Adobe forums and when going through the support portal http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?product=flash-builder&topic=using-my-product-or-servic e the phone number they provide isn't in use!!

I can't believe how expensive this product is for the quality it provides - my other post http://forums.adobe.com/message/5338632.

"Resource /.../xxx does not exist", the file is there!!!!!

Hi,

I have a project I've been working at for a while. The project folder is on a network drive. At some point I tried to open the project when the network drive was not available, so Flash Builder couldn't access it, ok.

Now the network drive is available, and I have already rebooted the system (it's Windows) and restarted Flash Builder.

I can open the project but there are some specifical .as files in the src folder that I cannot open. THE FILES ARE THERE (I can see them in Windows explorer, I can open and edit them in notepad), but Flash Builder cannot open them. They are listed in the left project tree view but when I double click any of them, it says "resource <filepath> does not exist".

It's only some of the files in the project, not all of them. Others I can open.

I already did "refresh". I also closed and reopened the project, and as mentioned I rebooted and restarted Flash Builder.

<rant>This is ridiculous, how can Flash Builder be SO broken?</rant>

Is there a fix for this???

What else does Flash Builder need to open a file besides the file being there?

thanks

m.
