Is it possible to build a flex mobile app that downloads a zip file from a remote server to the users device and extracts it for us within the app?

Just need to know if its possible or are there security restrictions that apply.

FB 4.6 mobile design mode blank

This morning design mode was working fine. Now all it shows is a blank view. It does not render the contents. It does not allow to me drag any components onto the view. The properties panel thinks it is not in design mode. Adding anything to the source code is not rendered in design mode.

Every new mobile project I create has the same problem.

Non-mobile Flex projects still work.

I'm on a Mac, Lion, FB 4.6.

flash builder 4.7 air 3.6 new adt compiler

$

Hi. Ive been having serious issues when i tried to "Export release build" using air 3.4 and/or air 3.5 on Flash builder 4.7. Goit a lot of nonsense java.lan.nullpinter exceptions and similar errrors.

When i tried to debug or run, even on device generating the ipa, everything ok. But when i tried to export the project, and it tried to re-compile it, always got absurd java errors.

Ive tried everything: downgrade the java virtual machine, reinstalling flash builder, air, even windows!!! Nothing worked. Even recovering previous stages of the project where I originally could export it (its even published on the appstore!). No use. The app that was working no problem, now when trying to export returns a lot of javanull pointers or similar crap.

BUT, when trying to generate the ipa through via command lines  on the ms dos console it works!! So... its obvious the problem was on the adl+java duo.

Thing is, I updated to the just released AIR 3.6 (not the beta, the release version). It uses .exes(on windows, which is the system im using)  instead of java, so it showed promise.

I overlayed the air version on the flash builder following this instructions:

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4797974

Well, not exaclty, because then flash builder throws a lot of errors and dosent show me the package explorer for instance.

I made a copy of the AIR folder, but not deleted the content, just copied the new air version files over and substitute the replicas, but kept the originals where no new file substituted them (dont know if im explaining it ok, sorry for my english).

It worked... except for the damn "Export release build" option. It keeps trying to debug it using java instead of using the new adt. And I cant find how to change that.

The adt on the other hand is being used ok, as i can check it when I try to run or debug the project targetting a device. Before I could check the command used and now Im not, so Im pretty sure its using the new .exe instead of the java version. But now I dont know how to generate the ipa targetting the app store, for instance via command line using the new adt nor can i do it exporting the project from the flash builder IDE.

SO...

is there anyone having similar problems?

How can I correctly overlay air 3.6 over Flash Builder 4.7 and force it to use the new air adt and adl?

Anyone tried?

Thanks in advance folks!!!

OS: WIndows 7 x64

Hardware: ATI Radion 65xxx series HD, 12GB DDR3, Galaxy Note 10.1 & Galaxy S4

Android 4.1.2 is on the Tablet and 4.2.2 is on the mobile.

Software: Adobe CC (Full) - FlashBuilder 4.7 - AIR for android on both devices 4.x installed

Flashbuilder modification 1: APACHE FLEX Latest downloaded and installed into SDK directory

Flashbuilder modification 2: AIR 4.0 SDK downloaded and installed into eclipse plugins flash compiler directory

Dev test 1: (success)

Built test application to test some Away3D 4.x programming and interaction on AIR.

Result: Flash Player opened SWF and all appeard fine.

Dev test 2: (success)

Created new project - Flash Mobile - merged dev test 1 code into project and compiled on Galaxy S4

Result: FlashBuilder recognised device, installed apk and ran it just fine (AIR 4.x is already installed on device)

Dev test 2b: (failure)

Still using project dev test 2, I unplugged the Galaxy S4 and pluggined in the Galaxy Note 10.1. Pressed debug.

Result: Flashbuilder didn't get any further than displaying the message "Launching: Determining the device on which to install the application..."

Dev test 2c: (failure)

Closed FlashBuilder, unplugged device, CTRL + ALT + DEL then end tasked all ADB processes. Re-opened FlashBuilder, plugged Tablet back in and pressed debug again.

Result: Sat on "Launching: Installing application on device" heard windows noise for unplugged usb device sound?!!??  Waited.. and waited and eventually got the message "Launching 'Away3DIsometricBlockBuilder' has encountered a problem. Error occurred while installing the application: rm failed for /data/local/tmp/Away3DIsometricBlockBuilder.apk, No such file or directory

Dev test 2d: (success)

Unplugged device, end tasked all ADB.exe instances and plugged in galaxy s4 and pressed debug.
Result: Success!

Dev test 2e: (failure)
Unplugged all devices, end tasked all ADB.exe instances and shut down flashbuilder. Opened a command prompt window and adb version = 1.0.31. Downloaded Goolge Android SDK x64 and removed existing android installation folder I had already and extracted files there. Opened SDK Manager and installed the latest Android 4.4 SDK  and some other tools etc. Now I went looking for where adb exists. Found the ones relevant to FlashBuilder 4.7 and checked which version they were. SDK used version was 1.0.31 and the AIR eclipse plugins ADB version was also 1.0.31. Checked fresh installed adb version from Google Android SDK and it was also v 1.0.31. Tried a manual install on the device of the apk. Re-opened FlashBuilder re-connected device (tablet) and pressed debug.
Result: Got to Launching 57%, windows made usb disconnection sound and it got no further and popped up the error window which was detailed in "Dev test 2c" above. Device shows connected windows explorer no longer shows device.

Dev test 2f: (failure)

Unplugged device, end tasked all adb.exe instances. Plugged device back in.
Check 1: Windows shows android device plugged in GT-N80810
Check 2: Opened admin rights dos window and typed in adp devices - found 1 at some address
Check 3: adb version = 1.0.31

Check 4: apk file exists

Execute manual install: adp install -r package_name.apk

Result:

-- in dos window --

protocol failure

- waiting for device -

rm failed for /data/local/tmp/apkname.apk, No such file or directory

Dev test 3: (failure)

Created a new flashbuilder 4.7 ActionScript Mobile AIR Project

Name: TabletTest01

Permissions: Internet, Write external storage, wake lock, access network

Auto reorient: yes

Full screen: yes

Added code: trace("hello world");

Pressed debug

Set launch method: on device

Build target = device

Click apply then debug

Result: Same as error shows in 2c

Dev test 3b: (success)

Rebooted pc, rebooted device plugged back in after flashbuilder was running and pressed debug.

Result: sucess traced out "hello world" to console!

Dev test 3c: (failure)

Added code: trace("YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSS!");

Pressed debug.

Result: FAILURE! Same as error shows in 2c

Adobe or anyone know how to fix this issue? or even what is going on?!

I'm tempted to flash the Galaxy Note with Android 4.2.2 or 4.4 google stock rom, to see if it fixes any problems...
However it wouldn't be a true Galaxy Note 10.1 test device anymore, which was the point in buying the thing.

The only things which stand out in all this to me are:

1. The tablet disconnects mid way through the debug publish process, but sometimes the galaxy s4 does also but it doesn't stop it from working?! Timing issue with compiler and data transfer timings? Missing apk file in data temp directory?

2. Android 4.1.2 is on the Tablet and 4.2.2 is on the mobile, could it be an issue with the AIR SDK not correctly handling 4.1.2 where as it is fine with 4.2.2?

Maybe I should have gone the way of the virtual machine... :\

My next tests will be to root the device (odin) and see if I can copy over APK files for installation via the file browser on the device as at the moment APK file transfer is blocked (I don't have the apk copying issue on a non-rooted galaxy s4 however).

Anyone got anything?

D

PS. Adobe - Image upload doesn't work on this forum editor (chrome).

Design view in FB 4.5 not working

I have multiple projects that when viewed in FB 4, show in design view perfectly. I have custom skinning and it all looks like it should.

I moved these projects over to FB 4.5, and they all look terrible. It basically makes the design view unusable.

I have a Flex 4 project with spark components and spark skinning which shows up correctly, but all my mx projects with classic mx skinning does not show up at all.

Suggestions?

FlashBuilder 4.6 won't install on Win7, 64bit or WinXP 32bit -- tried 4 different computers.

Hello,

There seems to be something wrong with the Flashbuilder 4.6 installation for Windows. I've downloaded the installation 3 different times (the download completes successfully each time), and tried installing it on 4 different computers 3 with Windows 7, 64bit OS and one with Windows XP 32bit OS. It hangs every time on the same spot, when it is trying to extract the files for the installation. It says "A problem has occurred while extracting some files. It appears it's always after or on the "updateInventory.dll" extraction. The installation doesn't actually ever get a chance to start, it's failing on the extraction of the files to install.

Install File: FlashBuilder_4_6_LS10.exe 806 MB (845,374,656 bytes)

Does anyone have any ideas of how to work around this issue? I'm not sure that anyone with Windows could possibly use this product (trial or purchased) with this issue. (not a great release Adobe!)

I have reinstalled FB many times on my machine and on each installation after a while Flash Builder stops opening. I keep my task manager open to see what's going on but the process doesn't seem to start, or if it does, it closes immediatly. Where can I see the error log? I can start Flash Builder normally if I use FlashBuilderC.exe

Setting flash player launch in second monitor and maximized

I am using a dual monitor setup in development and using Windows 7. In Flash Builder, I have disabled html-template wrapper and my application launches in Flash Player. I want to set the launch location of Flash Player to my second monitor and it should be always in Maximized state.

Currently the problem is Flash Player launches at variable x,y co-ordinates and it is not in maximized state. Please help me to set it in Flash Builder or Flash Player, so that I don't have to waste my time in maximizing to see the screen and moving it to another monitor with different resolution.

I have a serial number for Flash Builder Std 4.5.

But I can't find the download link for Flash Builder Std 4.5.

When I tried with Flash Builder 4.7.  It says serial number is no good.

Packaging error using Xcode 5 simulators

I'm attempting to test mobile Air apps against iOS 7 via the Xcode 5 simulators, through Flash Builder 7.  My apps (Flex 4.6+/Air 3.5+) open just fine in the simulators packaged with Xcode 4. However, once I install Xcode 5 GM, I get the following error:

"Error occurred while packaging the application:

SDK is missing GPL component /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/S DKs/iPhoneSimulator6.1.sdk/../../../../../usr/llvm-gcc-4.2/lib/gcc/"

This error is occurring for for any targeted simulator (6.0/6.1/7.0/etc) and any Air version.

If I go back to Xcode 4, I don't have any problems up through v6.1 of the simulators.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Parks

Hello ,

We are using Flash Builder 4.7 with ASP.Net 4.0 in our application. The generated SWF is getting integrated in web page.

I need to override few styles of existing skin (Cobalt Graphical - using MX Components). Can someone guide where and how to customize the existing skin classes ?

Thanks,

Endless NullPointerExceptions in Flash Builder 4.5

I've been using Flash Builder 4.5 with Flex SDK 3.5B on Mac OS X 10.8.2 for a couple months. It hasn't been a perfect experience—the software has quite a few bugs—but in general it has been working until recently.

Our application includes two Flash Builder "projects", one of which references the other. Whenever we clone the repository, it is necessary to update the .project file of the primary project to include the new path of the secondary project.

The last thing I did before everything broke was move the folder containing the projects to a new location. As expected, when I opened Flash Builder, it complained that it couldn't find my project files, and they were all marked as inaccessible in the "Package Explorer" view. I did not remove the inaccessible projects from my workspace, but I attempted to re-import the primary project from its new location. This marked the first time I saw a dialog that has haunted me ever since:

'Building workspace' has encountered a problem. Errors occurred during the build. Details: Errors running 'Flex' on project 'configurator'. java.lang.NullPointerException

The "Problems" view told me to refer to the error log...

Errors (2 items): an internal build error has occurred. See the error log for more information.

...but the error log was empty!

The "Package Explorer" view didn't change (the new project wasn't listed) so I decided to just try the import again. When I selected the project directory, Flash Builder said I couldn't import it because the project was already in the workspace. "But the Package Explorer says it isn't... maybe it'll let me try again if I restart Flash Builder," I thought. I thought wrong. When I restarted, this is what I saw:

Could not create the view: an unexpected exception was thrown.

java.lang.NullPointerException    at com.adobe.flexbuilder.util.PathUtils.resolveLocaleInSourcePath(PathUtils.java:297)    at com.adobe.flexbuilder.project.actionscript.internal.ActionScriptProject.getProjectPath(ActionScriptProject.java:713)    at com.adobe.flexbuilder.project.actionscript.internal.ActionScriptProject.getSourceContainers(ActionScriptProject.java:681)    at com.adobe.flexbuilder.as.editor.ui.packageexplorer.content.FlexPackageExplorerContentManager.getSourceRoot(FlexPackageExplorerContentManager.java:644)    at com.adobe.flexbuilder.as.editor.ui.packageexplorer.FlexPackageExplorerContentProvider.getWorkspaceRootChildren(FlexPackageExplorerContentProvider.java:152)    at com.adobe.flexbuilder.as.editor.ui.packageexplorer.FlexPackageExplorerContentProvider.getChildren(FlexPackageExplorerContentProvider.java:80)    at com.adobe.flexbuilder.as.editor.ui.packageexplorer.FlexPackageExplorerContentProvider.inputChanged(FlexPackageExplorerContentProvider.java:449)    [...]

It couldn't even display the list of projects so I could remove the one that was causing the issue. A similar message was displayed in the "Editor" view. Deleting all of the project's files didn't help either. I was unable to fix the workspace, and the only way I could continue to use Flash Builder was by creating a new workspace.

Since then, I have tried many different things:

  • Reinstalled Flash Builder 4.5.
  • Reinstalled Flex SDK 3.5B.
  • Checked out a six-month old version of the project.
  • Upgraded to Flash Builder 4.6.
  • Created a new user profile on my computer.
  • Tried to remove whatever trace files might have broken things:
    1. Used Instruments to monitor all files the Flash Builder process touches.
    2. Uninstalled Flash Builder.
    3. Used find to locate any files that included builder or eclipse in their name.
    4. Deleted all files found in (1) or (3) that seemed possibly related to Flash Builder.
    5. Reinstalled Flash Builder.
  • Installed Flash Builder 4.5 on another Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
  • Installed Flash Builder 4.5 in a Windows 7 VM.

None have made any difference. That seems impossible.

Other members of my team have been working on this project for a couple years without running into this particular issue, yet now versions of the project from before I started appear to be broken, and even using brand new installations of Flash Builder on entirely different systems also breaks.

I have no idea what's going on. It seems like I must have done something else and forgotten about it, because the current situation makes no sense. Has anybody encountered this issue before? Do you have any idea what might be causing it, or what I might do to fix it?

Where can I download flash builder 4.7 STANDARD?

I can get premium very easily off of the website, but it will not let me activate with my 4.7 standard key.  I need flash builder 4.7 standard.  After hours of searching I have not found any way to download it.  This should be easy!

I've read a few similar forum posts but haven't found any solutions that fix the problem.  I've ramped up the mem usage in the ini file as discussed in this post http://forums.adobe.com/message/5237664#5237664, but this allows the mem to balloon way to high IMHO for this application.  Instead of repeating what other posts are saying pleas refer to http://forums.adobe.com/message/5338632#5338632, and http://forums.adobe.com/message/5131645#5131645 for a similar description of what I am experiencing.  Is this a known issue that is going to be addressed in an update?  Or, is this something I can fix on my own?  I haven't used FB much today but have had it opened and it is currently using close to 2gb of memory.  That seems a bit high.

iOS icon missing from package? It's not!

FB 4.7 tells me that when I try to debug my app that:

Error occurred while packaging the application:

/Users/reidop/Documents/U of Florida/projects/mobile apps/Pill Reminder/bin-debug/AOT/MedsReminder-app.xml: error 303: Icon iOS_icons/icon-57@2x.png is missing from package

along with all the other icons.  Not only are the icons in the proper place, they have been explicitly included in the package:

Flash BuilderScreenSnapz001.png

Why does this error occur?  Anyone have any ideas?

And yes, my XML file has the icons tag correct:

<icon>        <image29x29>iOS_icons/icon-29.png</image29x29>        <image57x57>iOS_icons/icon-57.png</image57x57>        <image114x114>iOS_icons/icon-57@2x.png</image114x114>        <image512x512>iOS_icons/itunes.png</image512x512>        <image72x72>iOS_icons/icon-72.png</image72x72>        <image76x76>iOS_icons/icon-76.png</image76x76>        <image40x40>iOS_icons/icon-40.png</image40x40>        <image80x80>iOS_icons/icon-40@2x.png</image80x80>        <image50x50>iOS_icons/icon-50.png</image50x50>        <image100x100>iOS_icons/icon-50@2x.png</image100x100>        <image144x144>iOS_icons/icon-72@2x.png</image144x144>        <image152x152>iOS_icons/icon-76@2x.png</image152x152>        <image1024x1024>iOS_icons/itunes@2x.png</image1024x1024>        <image58x58>iOS_icons/icon-29@2x.png</image58x58>        <image120x120>iOS_icons/icon-120.png</image120x120>        <image48x48>iOS_icons/icon-48.png</image48x48></icon>

When I comment these lines in the XML file out, it works perfectly ... but without the proper icons!

Can anyone tell me what I'm leaving out?
